School Community Council (SCC) Member (2014-Present)

Meeting monthly with other parents, principal, and teachers/staff to discuss school policy, culture, and student success.

Diving into school data to see where learning is working really well and where there is room for improvement.

Determining the current greatest needs in our school and forming a budget with TRUSTLAND money from the state to best address those needs.

Meeting monthly with each school’s principal to discuss school and create SCC agenda

Leading monthly SCC meetings using Robert's Rules of Order

Opening Viewpoint Middle School as SCC Chair, building bylaws, procedures, and culture for inaugural year
District Community Council (DCC) Member (2020-2024)

District Rep for SCC meetings at Belmont and Traverse Elementary Schools, and Viewpoint Middle School helping new chairs learn the process, answering any questions school council members have for the district, attending meetings, and sharing highlights and struggles with the district council.

Met with the superintendent, board members, and other DCC reps monthly to discuss things happening in the district.

Attended cluster meetings with principals and teacher reps as they shared current school experiences and received news and training from our superintendent and staff.
Other Involvement

Participated as a member of the District Boundary Committee, creating boundary maps of the newly built Belmont Elementary School and surrounding schools. Consisting of district officials, school principals, and area parents, our committee determined the most viable options for new school boundaries based on data and community input. Voted for which option to recommend to the school board for adoption.

Received Spirit of Excellence (RISE) Award from school board in recognition of contributions to Alpine School District at Viewpoint Middle School in 2023.

Contributed as a District Naming Committee member for newly opening Viewpoint Middle School using student and community feedback to create the recommended name, colors, and mascot to present to the school board.
